These two Luftwaffe Blades were captured by an allied Scottish soldier from the Carpiquet Airport north of Normandy, it was the first French airfield captured by the Germans in WW2
The Airport was then used to bomb Britain during the blitz.
The Airport was then recaptured by the British and Canadian units who landed on Sword and Juno beaches.
In 1957 Peter McKinley a long time collector of German WW2 militaria purchased these from the returned soldier in Glasgow Scotland. These two were found in the rubble of the bombed out main hanger.
Both Model 1 and 2 daggers have wear and tear consistent with this find.
